A highly effective topical medication for acne vulgaris. It has a keratolytic action (sheds skin cells) and, crucially, a strong antimicrobial effect against *P. acnes* bacteria. It works by releasing oxygen free radicals into the pore, killing the bacteria and reducing inflammation. It is often combined with antibiotics.
