Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API)

Pantoprazole

Antiulcerative, Antacid

A potent proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid. It is primarily used to treat damage from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) to allow the esophagus to heal, and to manage hypersecretory conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It works by irreversibly blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining, thereby decreasing the amount of acid produced. Long-term use or high doses can be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures.
